Restaurants and Cafes
Swedes are known for being really masterful chefs like the Swedish chef on the muppets, but seriously. They’re award winning chefs in Sweden, and there’s a lot of great little pubs and restaurants. Typical Swedish food is probably not what you get in these restaurants. They’re pretty international, but they’re very eclectic, so lots of fun combinations. But good. At the moment the Swedish Crown is quite low, which means it’s a bargain for anybody from abroad. There’s so many wonderful restaurants and great districts. And if you come in the warmer parts of the year, you can sit outside on the streets. There’s little outdoor cafes in front of all the restaurants. And then as it gets colder, they move everybody inside. memorable.
Pubs and Bars
Let’s say you were going to come visit me. I’d say let’s go to Cafe Opera.. There’s a lot of these old classic places. There’s so many really good places and also for every age group, like some places you just want to sit down with your mates and have a drink other places. You want to go out there and feel you want to feel smart and go out and have a good time.
Toasting good times
The Swedish toast I really like a lot. I teach it to all my friends when they come here.
You lift your glass and you look at everybody on the table. Have eye contact. Then you drink here and then again, you sort of acknowledge everyone and then put the glass down. I think that’s very respectful. But they say that possibly that came from an old viking tradition that if you had your big tankard and you’re drinking it, somebody could knock you in the head. The viking days!
