The advantage is that in Amsterdam you often don’t require a permit to film, especially in public places. This gives you the freedom to shoot at various locations without unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles. However, there are exceptions; for instance, if your filming affects traffic or other aspects, you might need a permit. But for most productions, you can simply film in public spaces without any complications.
Where would I apply to get the permit in Amsterdam?
Well, I have a connection with the person responsible for filming permits, who is a part of the Amsterdam Council. When I reach out to him, he recognizes me, which makes the process of obtaining permits much smoother and more straightforward.
How long would you say it takes to get a permit in Amsterdam?
It varies. Typically, we require around two to three weeks for obtaining permits. There have been instances when it was done quicker, but that relies on the availability of the individuals involved and whether they have the time to process it for us. That’s the gist of it.
How long would that permit last for? Would it be for just the day of the shoot, or would you be able to have a permit for a week, or more?
