The Best Places to Photograph Moscow.
Kremlin and Red Square are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Moscow, and for good reason – they are absolutely beautiful places to take pictures! The Kremlin is a massive fortress complex that served as the former home of the Russian tsars, and it now houses several museums and government buildings. Red Square is the large plaza located just outside the Kremlin walls, and it is home to iconic landmarks like St. Basil’s Cathedral and the State History Museum.
When photographing these two areas, be sure to get shots of both the exterior and interior of the Kremlin buildings, as well as wide shots of Red Square itself. The colorful onion domes of St. Basil’s make for great photos, so be sure to get some close-ups as well as shots from a distance. And don’t forget to capture the beautiful sunsets over Red Square – they’re truly breathtaking!
St. Basil’s Cathedral.
St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of Moscow’s most famous landmarks, and it is definitely worth a visit (and some photos)! The cathedral was built in the 16th century to honor Russia’s victory over the Mongols, and it features nine unique onion domes that make it instantly recognizable. When taking pictures of St. Basil’s, be sure to get some close-ups of the detailed facade as well as shots from a distance that capture its grandeur. The cathedral is located on Red Square, so you can easily combine a visit here with photo opportunities at other nearby attractions like the Kremlin or GUM department store.
