We caught up with Roland, a key local producer in Washington DC for ACrew4U and asked him about his career journey so far.
How long have you been working with ACrew4U?
Maybe it was 2015. So been working with the crew for you for eight years. I looked you up in the Internet.
How long have you been doing your job?
Since 19. I’ve been in the business since 1984. And I had my own. Company since 1996. At the start we shot on 16 millimetre film, with very little video at the time. .
How did you get into the business of video or film?
I went to film school. It taught me a lot about the history of cinema. Very elementary history. Cinema. I fell in love with it. And I said, I went to NYU Film School. It was really cool.
What do you really like about the job?
I hate to use the word passionate because I can’t stand that expression. But I like variety. I like the problem solving. I like the fact that no day is the same. No hours the same. And some people call it creativity. But I call it problem solving, because. It’s always helping other people solve, not problems, but answer their questions. I really like working with clients.
Is there anything in particular you like about corporate video projects?
Corporate video is meaty. Corporate Video is based in the real world. I like the fact that it marries. Not fantasy, but emotion. Drama, theater. And passion with the real world. And I like the fine line that you’re walking. You’re always walking a fine line. And that’s the challenge, right. The challenge is creating something. That has drama and emotion and power. But is believable and honest and real
